12 SKYE AND THE INNER HEBRIDES

Skye is the largest and most dramatic island in the Hebrides — a place of rugged mountains, sweeping sea lochs, ancient history and raw, untamed beauty. And the very best way to explore it is by sea.

Arriving by boat, we reach the spots that road travellers simply cannot — remote coves, hidden anchorages and breathtaking coastline with no traffic, no crowds and, mercifully, no midges. Provident becomes our own comfortable floating base throughout, always there when we return from our adventures ashore.

This is our second voyage of the season in partnership with Walk Wild Scotland, blending some wonderful sailing with serious on-shore exploring. Expect magnificent hill walks, dramatic coastal trails and deserted Atlantic beaches — as well as a fascinating detour to one of Scotland's most unusual historic sites, a Viking shipyard that speaks to these islands' extraordinary Norse heritage.
