2027 SAILING VOYAGES AROUND SCOTLAND’S WEST COAST AND HEBRIDES
Twenty voyages aboard Provident, our 100-year-old traditional Brixham sailing trawler, exploring the islands, lochs and wild coastline of the Scottish Hebrides. Some trips are about learning the ropes from scratch, others head far out to remote wildlife havens like the Shiants or St Kilda, and a few team up with local walking guides for days that mix sailing with serious hill time. Whichever you choose, the pace is the same: slow travel, good company, great food, and plenty of time to get stuck in on deck or simply watch the coastline go by. Trips run from five to ten nights between April and October.
Twenty Voyages, One Season
Every trip below is a full-board voyage with berths available to book individually — so whether you're after a five-night taster or the full ten-day Midsummer Adventure, there's a voyage for you.
Choosing the Right Voyage for You
New to sailing? Our Learning the Ropes and five-night taster trips are built for complete beginners, with no experience required, although none of our trips require any previous sailing experience. Keen walkers should look for our voyages with Walk Wild Scotland and Abacus Mountain Guides, which pair proper sailing days with serious time ashore on the hills. And if wildlife is the draw, the longer voyages north to the Shiant Islands and the Small Isles are where you'll find puffins, dolphins, and some of the wildest, least-visited corners of the Hebrides.
01 LEARNING THE ROPES
How to sail a traditional vessel.
The focus of this trip will be to learn the ways of sailing a 100 year old sailing trawler. All our trips offer the chance to get involved with hoisting sails, taking the helm and being a part of the crew. But on this trip learning will be the main focus. This should be great fun. We'll give ourselves the time to get things wrong, have a laugh, a cup of tea then give it another go. It'll be great for anyone who's curious to know how a really analogue bit of tec works. No prior knowledge needed. Just an inquisitive mind and a willingness to give it a go.
