A holiday aboard Provident is great for solo adventurers. With a maximum of 12 people on board, including the crew, you’ll enjoy a friendly atmosphere without ever feeling lost in a crowd. Whether you prefer the privacy of your own cabin or are happy to share with a fellow guest, you’ll have the freedom to tailor the experience to suit your style.

Sailing offers the perfect blend of companionship and independence. You can get hands-on with the crew, helping to hoist the sails, steer the boat, or share in the daily tasks, making you feel part of the team. If you’re craving a bit of solitude, there’s plenty of space to find your own quiet corner. Sit on deck with a good book or just enjoy the amazing views, letting the motion of the boat, the passing scenery, and surrounding wildlife lull you into a wonderful calm.

Throughout the journey, you’ll have the chance to join trips ashore, exploring remote coves, wild headlands, or charming island villages. Whether you fancy a leisurely stroll along a secluded beach, a more energetic hill walk or maybe a dram of whiskey in the pub, the variety of shore excursions offers something for every mood.

After a day of adventure, you’ll return to the comfort of Provident, where you can relax with a delicious, locally sourced meal and share stories with your fellow travellers. The cosy deckhouse provides a welcoming space to unwind, while the sea breeze and gentle sway of the boat create the perfect setting for a peaceful evening.

There’s something special about the wee community on a boat.  Maybe something as simple as “being in the same boat” brings a sense of being together and camaraderie.

For those seeking adventure, relaxation, a touch of solitude but with the opportunity to be part of the crew, a holiday aboard Provident offers the perfect escape. Check out our voyages page to find an adventure that suits you.

  • Did the trip meet your expectations?

Yes, absolutely. In fact, I had not expected the number of opportunities that we had to go ashore for walks; these excursions added considerably to the overall experience.

  • Above deck: What was your experience of the sailing / activity part of the trip?

Brilliant! Given every opportunity to play a full part in all deck activity - the sailing was epic, the scenery beautiful, the wildlife, particulary the dolphins, immense! A winning combination.

  • Below deck: what was you experience of living on Provident?

Really excellent! I have sailed on at least 8 traditional boats of all sizes over the years and Provi was easily the most comfortable and well designed. Love the dog house - makes a real difference being able to pop in to warm up or eat while still seeing whats going on. The atmosphere was also great, really sociable.

Superb - Julio is simply outstanding! I have never eaten so well on a classic boat (or in a restaurant frankly), the meals were fantastic and played a big part in my overall enjoyment of the trip.
